Miguel Rivera is the protagonist of Disney Pixar's 2017 animated film, Coco. He is a twelve-year-old boy living in Santa Cecilia, Mexico, with a burning passion for music.
Despite his family's generations-old ban on music, stemming from a personal abandonment, Miguel secretly idolizes the late Ernesto de la Cruz, a famous musician from his town.
On Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead), Miguel's attempts to play de la Cruz's guitar lead him to the Land of the Dead. There, he embarks on a journey to seek de la Cruz's blessing and return to the Land of the Living, discovering his family history and the true meaning of family along the way.
